“SUPERSTORE APE” premiere with CAPSULE until Aug 31 2021

Capsule is a community-responsive platform hosted by the National Arts Centre Dance Department in close collaboration with F-O-R-M and Dumb Instrument Dance. 60 short films created by Canadian dance artists are available to experience from May 3 to August 31, 2021.

SUPERSTORE APE stars Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg (with Luis Lam, Marc Stewart, Jasper Friedenberg Stuart and some surprisingly unfazed shoppers!). Directed by Allison Beda, choreographed by Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg with music by Marc Stewart, it was shot (very quickly!) by Allison Beda and David Hauka (with cell phone footage from Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Luis Lam and Marc Stewart. SUPERSTORE APE is adapted from the one woman show I CAN’T REMEMBER THE WORD FOR I CAN’T REMEMBER by Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg. This film was made in Vancouver BC and we would like to gratefully acknowledge that we live and work and made this work of art on unceded lands of the of the Coast Salish peoples Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations.
